Ingredients
Looking into the full list ingredients of COSRX Real Fit Retinol Serum, it's key ingredient for retinol is Retinyl Palmitate which is the weakest among the retinoid family however it's a great option for beginners which applies to me. I've been eager to try a retinol-based product for quite a while but I was scared that my skin wouldn't react well with it.
When I looked into the ingredient list, I felt a bit secure knowing that this retinol serum uses a less potent type of retinol. Other than that, it contains Calendula Flower which is great for hydration. It also contains Vitamin E as well.
Packaging
I always loved how COSRX have simple packaging labels. This serum comes in a tinted glass bottle with an air-tight cap making it perfect storage for retinol so you won't have to worry about it being oxidized so easily.
Texture
The serum is creamy white and rather runny. It absorbs well into the skin but it does leave quite an oily feel afterwards however it's not drying. Retinols are known to be drying but this serum does not dry up the skin much.
Scent-Wise
The scent isn't that pleasing but it's still tolerable. I didn't notice any artificial fragrance in the INCI list so that should be fine.
Experience
My first try using COSRX retinol serum, I used it in my morning skincare routine but only used it like 3 times a week. I didn't feel any irritation during application but my skin had breakouts that week so I stopped using it. However, I didn't feel like this serum was the cause because I was near to my period during that time and I usually get a few breakouts during that time.
My skin is currently better so I've used this retinol serum in my night routine instead but still 3 times a week. It's only been a week so I don't expect to see much difference to my skin yet.
Overall Thoughts
Honestly, I'm still in my trial phase for this product so I don't have much to say yet. So far I had not experienced any irritations at all but I did get breakouts which, yet again I believe that I can't totally blame this serum as it may be hormonal. Let me get back to you all after I finish up this bottle which I could say probably in another 2 months.
