Hey alls, so early this month we thought of doing a family gathering to celebrate us moving to a new home and also to celebrate my MIL's birthday. The whole family came down to Shah Alam so my husband and I wanted to treat everyone with a good dinner. The problem with treating everyone at the same time is that they all have different tastes of food, so we didn't want anyone to feel left out too. Besides that, we wanted to bring everyone to dine comfortably but we were also on a tight budget. After brainstorming, where to go, we were lead to D'Kayangan Steamboat and it was just perfect. Keep on reading to know the reasons why we chose D'Kayangan Steamboat.
I've been to D'Kayangan Steamboat a few times over the years and I've bought my family once before too, so this time it's my in-laws turn to try out. In each family, there must be those who surely love to dine big especially if you have a free flow of food all night. So for a big family gathering that happens only a few times in a year, of course, us as the host would love everyone to enjoy and be satisfied at the same time. So here are our reasons why we chose D'Kayangan Steamboat.
1. Offers Over 150 Selection of Food
They claim to have over 150 types of dishes for visitors daily, so that's one of the main reason. You know how hard is it to bring a group out to eat as each person has a different taste in food. With over 150 dishes, it's just impossible to not have a dish that they don't like. Even though D'Kayangan focuses on Steamboat, they also serve ready cooked food like Fried Rice, Nasi Lemak, and even Mee. Not forgetting desserts such as cake and ice-cream to choose from.
D'Kayangan Steamboat BBQ Buffet originally provides steamed dishes. Visitors could choose between chicken soup or Tom Yam for them to enjoy along with fresh seafood. The choices available are of course large shrimp, mussels, crabs, shellfish, squid, fish fillets and more. Various vegetables, noodles and a variety of nuggets are also available for customer's choice. There is also a wide selection of sauces made by the chef like Sauce Spicy Sauce, Thousand Island Sauce, Thai Sauce Sauce, Sweet Chili Sauce, Garlic Sauce, Black Pepper Sauce, Sos Yong Tau Foo and so on.
Recently, their Chef, Chef Shahnizam, a Chef with over 25 years of experience in the field of culinary, has updated the menu with a special chicken grill of grilled meat, shrimps, sausage, fish and squid. The types of sediment used are a mixture of Chilled Giling, Garlic, Black Pepper and some other herbs to enhance the flavor and smell of the salts.
Among the grill menu provided are Chicken Mozza, Chicken Castello, The Toretto Meat, Cappucino Meat, The Krusty Crab, Super Prawn, Squidward, Keli Yolanda, Dory Drive, Patin Annabel, Pari Perry and most interesting Goat Grill which is fermented with 15 species spice. Chef Shahnizam, who knows the taste of food, has been innovating using Chinese and Indian style dishes in its ingredients. Visitors can experience their own abnormalities with natural ingredients used. All of this is especially suitable for cooking using the grill provided because of the spice flavor and its ingredients become more fragrant and appetizing.

When you're bringing a big group, of course, pricing should be one of the main concerns especially if it's all on you. LOL... We wanted to dine big, but our pocket wasn't that big, so when we came to know that D'Kayangan Steamboat has lowered their price, we were thrilled.
The latest price offered is only RM 29.90 nett for adults and RM 12.50 nett for children aged 5 - 11 years old. There is no additional charge for 'refill' soup. For visitors who spend more than rm 150, discount card rm 10 will be given to them.
3. Great Location
The thing I hate the most going to popular food locations is that it's jam-packed and sometimes we waste so much time to get parking. With a hungry belly, I try my best to avoid such places when going out with a big group, why? One batch might already be waiting at the dining table while the other is still stuck looking for a car park, so the ones at the dining table get more tortured with the smell of good food but cannot eat. HAHA... I honestly hate that situation.
So, the thing about D'Kayangan Steamboat that it's the only place that seems to live in that area. LOL... No la, they have the whole corner to themselves so all the car parks there are basically for their customers. There isn't a time that I've been there that I had trouble to get a parking spot. And if you think it's in the middle of nowhere, it's actually at the heart of Shah Alam too. Nearby Stadium Shah Alam.

4. Spacious
With a relaxing dining room, the restaurant can accommodate up to 600 people at a time, with 200 in-depth and 400 people in the open space. There are also facilities such as comfortable female surau and men as well as spacious parking spaces. That's an advantage as usually the perfect timing to eat steamboat is before or just after Maghrib.
Honestly, even though the place is quite spacious, I kinda hope they take in consideration and install a better air ventilation system in the restaurant, as the smoke from the grill makes the place hot and uncomfortable after a while. For now, I think the best place to dine is definitely outside.

Overall, we had a great night. It's great to see everyone enjoy the food and also did we. They sure had a lot of options and it all tasted great too! I'm not really the seafood type but I've been having their chicken all night. All types of chicken served was so good! Even my MIL agreed too. We had 3 tables to ourselves and we separated according to preference so it was easier to grill. LOL... I don't know why I feel like I'm drooling again just writing this. Probably I should make another visit again soon too.
