My Thoughts on Pixi +C Vit Priming Oil

I get excited every time I open a Pixi Beauty product, at first I thought this was a regular face oil I could use for my night routine, but after reading through it turns out to be a prep oil for makeup and I never knew that this kind of product existed. LOL... I rarely wear makeup nowadays since I've gotten used to staying at home during the Lockdown so I haven't really tried this oil with makeup yet.
It's been sitting in my drawer for months now so I probably just give you guys a pre-review for this product and go through the deets of this Priming Oil.

Ingredients
Looking into the full list of ingredients for Pixi +C Vit Priming Oil its active ingredients are Ascorbic Acid, Squalane, Beta-Carotene, Daucus Carota Sativa (Carrot) Seed Oil and Daucus Carota Sativa (Carrot) Root Extract. Overall the INCI list looks good with Vitamin A and E and multiple plant extracts included, it's set to give the skin-soothing and hydration.

Packaging
Since this priming oil was sent in a PR box, I didn't get its proper packaging box but seeing online it has quite a cute design with gold embossed lines and lemons. The priming oil comes in a sleek see-through fully clear glass bottle with a screw cap dropper. There are no descriptions written on the glass bottle so I'm guessing all of it were included on the box.

Instead of Pixi's normal serum bottles that usually are in a green fully covered bottle, their priming oil comes in a totally different bottle. But, I don't get why they made the packaging clear as it'll increase the chances for the oil to get oxidized more quickly. Probably to show the different layers of oil which indeed is pretty nice especially for pictures, but without proper storage, this product is just gonna be a waste of money.

That's why I've been keeping this tucked away in a drawer so it doesn't get exposed to sunlight easily. During these times I wish I had a beauty fridge.

Texture
It's very runny, almost like water which makes it easily absorbs into the skin.

Scent-Wise
It has quite a strong citrusy scent

Experience
As explained above, I didn't have the chance to fully use this priming oil yet so I can't really share my experience. I'll update this post once I have.

Overall Thoughts
I find this priming oil such a nice product since it does prep the skin to have a really nice makeup finish and beauty addicts are giving good reviews on this +C Vit Priming Oil too. However, I do have a few concerns about this product since its active ingredient is Ascorbic Acid, the most potent Vitamin C of all, which of course is a very sensitive ingredient. Pixi didn't disclose the percentage of Ascorbic Acid used but it's within the top 10 ingredients within the INCI list so I guess it's quite potent.

The formulation should be no problem for normal & dry skin but for those with sensitive & acne-prone skin should be careful. This is also one of the reasons why I haven't fully used it yet.

Another concern I have since using Ascorbic Acid especially during the day requires SPF protection. A must!  Since this priming oil should go after sunscreen application, there should be more layers of SPF on top right? Make sure to use foundation or powder coverage that comes with SPF. But still, applying oil after sunscreen doesn't seem like the right step when oil is lighter than sunscreen. So I'm figuring the best is to use lightweight chemical sunscreen and let it sink in the skin for a few minutes before applying this priming oil on top.

However, I feel that using this priming oil during the day is just risky so it should be best to use it for the evening. This priming oil should definitely be perfect to use for dinner events that will make the skin shine beautifully all night. If you choose to use this only at night then there should be another problem that arises. For a 30ml bottle is quite a lot unless you wear makeup every night then that's worth it, but if you rarely makeup you'll be having a hard time finishing this baby up before it starts to oxidize.

Overall, I still love the idea of this priming oil. I'll update this post again once I've fully tried it.
