My Thoughts on Essano Kale Night Creme

I've been wanting Essano's Kale Night Cream for quite a long time, ever since I saw people posting about it on my IG feed, this went straight into my wishlist. I found Kale rather interesting as I've never used that ingredient in my skincare before and with it, as a night cream it definitely triggered me to own it. I surely have an obsession with night creams. LOL...

So when I saw guardian having this on sale, I was in desperate need of a night cream since I haven't been using any for a while, so I found it the perfect time to actually give this a try. This was the first product I've heard about Essano but wasn't the first I've tried. The first product I tried was Essano's Rose Cleanser which, to be honest, was nothing wow about it. But still, I wasn't disappointed at the brand, so that's why I purchased the Kale Night Cream as that was what I've been eyeing from the brand from the very beginning. So was my purchase worth it?

Ingredients
Looking into the full ingredients list (INCI) of Essano Superfoods Kale Regenerating Night Creme, it's key ingredients is Kale. At first I thought it was the normal kale, turns out Essano uses Sea Kale (Crambe Maritima (Sea Kale) Leaf Extract). I couldn't find much info on Sea Kale but it's mainly known for its anti-ageing properties and there are quite a number of brands that uses this ingredient as its main too.

To complement Sea Kale, this night creme also includes Aloe Vera, Shea Butter & Carrot. I know my skin accepts Aloe Vera and Carrot well but I'm surprised that this time my skin did not react with a product containing Shea Butter. It usually does so that's why I need to look into past products that I've used with Shea Butter and identify other ingredients that I may have not discovered problematic to my skin yet.  I'm having high hopes that my skin could actually work well with Shea Butter even though it has quite a high comedogenic number.

Besides that, the rest of the ingredients sound great but it does contain fragrance and colorant. This should explain the very greeny creme colour of the creme.

Packaging
It comes in quite a big paper packaging but when opened up, you'll get a glass jar half the size of the packaging packed. It was quite funny to me as I couldn't figure out why the brand even thought of doing that as it's such a waste of paper and space too.

In terms of design, I like it. It comes in a green glass jar with a white cap with a simple and neat design. However, I really do wish the opted using a tube or a pump instead of a jar as I feel like its highly unhygienic. But I do understand that this may be because of the texture of the cream.

Texture
It's thick, the viscosity is so thick that when you scoop it out it'll stick on your finger easily without having to worry it'll fall off. Since it's very thick, having it absorbed into the skin is quite a hassle too. You'll need to apply it little by little if not you'll be dealing with the white case all night. It's just super thick it won't absorb fast enough.

Scent-Wise
The scent is strong but I like it. It's pleasing and calming for me. It has a rather soft and sweet fruity scent to it.

Experience
Honestly while using this I couldn't wait to share my experience using this Kale Night Cream with you guys. I first started using this night cream for a week at the end of December. I didn't experience any bad reactions while using it, no irritations or redness at all. Waking up with it, my skin felt good and my skin condition at that time wasn't so bad. I did have a few tiny acnes but I didn't see the progress of more acne showing up. However, after a week of using this, I stopped because mainly I needed to try a new product for a review and secondly I hated how it was so hard for it to absorb into the skin. Like seriously, I had to spend more time on my night routine to make sure I have no white cast from this cream before going to bed.

I started using this cream again on 19th Jan 2021 and at that time my skin was going through a breakout which I feel because of a wrong product (I still don't know why I don't do patch tests) so since I didn't experience any breakouts with Essano Superfoods Kale Regenerating Night Creme during my first try I thought I should use it again, but this time I decided to use it with Huxley's Oil Light And More and these two combined to me are like a magic potion. With both products having great ingredients, adding Huxley's Oil solves the texture problem and smooths up the application resulting in a quicker absorbency as well. As for scent combined, both products have quite a strong scent but the scents go well together. Honestly, after I tried this combo, I couldn't really go back without the combination.

Before & After Using Essano Kale Night Creme

Pictures were taken at same place and same time on different days

Do note that the Before & After photos are also the results of me using different products. And for this experiment, I combined using Essano's Kale Night Creme with Aprilskin's Carotene Range, which you can read my review on that as well.

Overall Thoughts
Thank goodness for the oil because if it wasn't for it I'll probably have stopped using Essano's Regenerating Night Creme already because I don't like its absorbency rate. But since Essano did mention on its packaging that its best to use after Essano's Facial Oil. Since I didn't have that I just used what I had and the combo worked well even though I mixed the oil and the creme instead of using it after.

Overall, I'm totally pleased with Essano Kale Regenerating Night Creme and it was the right decision to buy it. LOL... After this jar, I'm looking into to try more products from Essano, as I totally love to support brands that go for cruelty-free, eco-friendly and organic for their products.
