My Thoughts on Aprilskin Carrotene Acne Cleanser

Ingredients
Looking into the full ingredients list of Aprilskin Real Carrotene Acne Foam Cleanser, it's key ingredients are Carrot Complex and BHA. Almost similar to Aprilskin's Carottene Vita Pads, with Beta-Carotene and Salicylic Acid as it's superstar. Aprilskin mentions it to be a daily cleanser that should help relieve acne. Even though Salicylic falls in the exfoliating category, I've read that BHA's tends to be more gentle which makes it suitable for daily use. (I was worried about over-exfoliating so I did a light search on Salicylic Acid).

Other than that, this cleanser contains tea tree oil which is a great anti-bacterial agent. I'm mainly seeing ingredients that are great for treating acne in the carrot cleanser. However, there is quite a list of low-rated comedogenic ingredients included.

Packaging
The nice clean packaging does look eye-catching from afar with its bright orange colour. It comes in 120ml fully covered plastic tube with a flip cap at the bottom. The opening is quite small compared to their carrot cream but I prefer it like this as it's easier to control the amount of product I want to squeeze out.

Texture
What you'll get upon squeezing out the product is a yellowish thick and creamy cream cleanser making it easy to create foams while cleaning the face. So it's not exactly a foam cleanser to start with but it tends to get foamy once mixed with water.

Scent-Wise
The familiar scent is almost similar to Aprilskin's Carrot Serum, it doesn't seem quite strong as the serum but you can definitely scent it while washing your face.

Experience
I've been using this cleanser for my night routine as I'm also using the rest of Aprilskin's Carrotene Range in my night routine, except for their sunscreen of course. However, I did stop using Aprilskin's Carrot Cream a little after I started using their Carrot Cleanser. This is because I feel like the cream didn't work too well on my skin as I'm seeing my acne kinda unstable and kept showing up even after healing. So I felt there was something wrong with my routine. I went through the skincare that I was currently using and I kinda had the instinct it was the Carrotene Cream as it contained quite a number of comedogenic ingredients, even though they were low-rated ones.

So after taking the carrot cream out of my night routine, I used a different cream instead together with Aprilskin's Carrotene Vita Pads and Serum which resulted in a very pleasing result.

Before & After Using Aprilskin Carrotene Range

Before & After Using Aprilskin Carrotene Range

Before this post, I've shared pictures of my before & after using Aprilskin's Carrotene Range in my post for Aprilskin's Carrot Serum.  I mentioned that it did help to reduce acne as the picture result for 16 Jan is after a week using Aprilskin's Carrot Vita Pads, Serum and also cream.

However, a few days after that my skin reacted with breakouts especially on my left cheek where there was one huge pimple. In my review post for Aprilskin's Carrot Cream I mentioned that their carrot cream contains quite a number of low-comedogenic ingredients and I didn't quite like the absorbency of the cream. So seeing what happened to my skin, the first product that I excluded out was their carrot cream. I used a different night cream on the 19th and woke up not seeing much difference. I maintained using the other cream until today and I did change my day skincare routine on the 20th which is a range to help treat acne as well. (I'll post about this range soon)

So I maintained using Aprilskin's Carrotene range as my night routine excluding their carrotene cream until 30th Jan and it gave such satisfying results. My acne is almost cleared and my skin is definitely calmer than before.

I can't say the end results were completely because of Aprilskin's Carrotene range but it is a major part of how my skin managed to achieve this result. I'm seeing their Vita Pads working like a charm, ever since I switched using it on a daily basis, I noticed my acne marks were fading as well. You can see obvious results in the picture above.

Overall Thoughts
Honestly, I can't say that the cleanser is great standing solely, but it's great using it with the rest of Aprilskin's carrotene range. It's the perfect combo for all the combinations of ingredients in the carrotene line which focuses on acne-relief.  If to choose what I'll repeat from the Carrotene line is Aprilskin's Vita Pads and Serum.
