What is Aprilskin Vitamin ACE Brightening Serum?
Aprilskin Vitamin ACE Brightening Serum is a strong brightening serum to treat dull skin. Aprilskin claims that this ACE serum is an ultra-stable, high-potency antioxidant serum that brightens the skin tone in 7 days It aims to fight dark spots, hyperpigmentation, and dullness due to exposure to sunlight. Besides that, it can treat acne scars and blemishes also uneven skin tone. Apply the under-eye area to take care of dark circles too.
Formulated using a patented multi-lamellar technology with an optimum concentration of 20%, the efficacy of the serum is maximized as it maximizes absorption while minimizing irritation. What's interesting is that it incorporates the emulsification and encapsulation of vitamin C & E in order to protect the molecules from damage caused by heat, light and most importantly, oxidation.

My Thoughts on Aprilskin Vitamin ACE Brightening Serum
Ingredients
Looking into the full list of ingredients for Aprilskin Vitamin ACE Brightening Serum its main ingredients are Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C), Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Retinal (Vitamin A) and also Panthenol (Vitamin B5). Other goodies include Squalane, Bisabolol, Allantoin and quite a number of hydrating ingredients such as Hyaluronic Acid. Most of the key ingredients sit at the bottom of the INCI list which includes Ceramide, Madecassoside and also Carrot Extract. Overall, the INCI list does look promising.
Packaging
It comes in a fully covered plastic bottle with a pump head and a metallic coated body. The design is similar to other serums from Aprilskin but what standouts making this serum look expensive is the metallic coat. I truly appreciate Aprilskin's effort in this packaging as its serum is packed in a coated, airless bottle so the freshness of the serum can last in storage for a longer time. I think all Vit C products should be packed like this as it's easier to maintain.
Proof that this packaging works in maintaining the serum is that the leftover bits of serum that are stuck on the pump head change colour to a dark brown colour, which clearly shows that the serum is oxidized. However, pumping out new serum still shows the golden yellow colour, meaning that the serum inside is well maintained.
Texture
This bright golden-yellow serum squirts out easily and is super runny. It absorbs almost instantly into the skin and does feel a bit oily too. But once the serum is fully absorbed, it does not make the skin feel sticky at all. It combines well with most cream textures for moisturizers as well.
Scent-Wise
It's quite a surprise actually because I'm seeing quite a number of perfuming ingredients in the INCI list however the scent... hmmm... is very unpleasant. Brutally honest, it's the worst scent I've experienced with a skincare product so far. At first, I thought the serum is no longer in a good state, but the colour does not seem to be oxidized and it's perfectly gold. So I read reviews on their website and indeed some have mentioned the scent not being good. I usually don't really mind about scents but the scent for this serum is strong and it ain't pleasant. Honestly, it did make me turn off using it for the first few tries, but then I changed my mind quickly when I felt the results of this serum. After a while, the scent didn't seem to bother me at all.
Experience
One thing I don't fancy about Vitamin C products is that they easily oxidize. Once it starts changing colour it's time to throw it away even though the expiry is still far ahead. When I saw Aprilskin's packaging for this serum, I knew this should be worth it as Aprilskin chose the perfect packaging that easily maintained the serum inside without the need for really cautious care. I've been using this serum for a month and it has been placed on my vanity table since day one (usually I store Vit C products in drawers to avoid sunlight) and the serum still comes out with the perfect golden colour.
So I mentioned the scent being very unpleasant, well, I didn't care much about that after a few tries since I've noticed that my skin didn't look so dull after a couple of tries. I've been avoiding Vit C products for a while because my skin seems to be rather sensitive to this ingredient, especially the potent ones with Ascorbic Acid. This serum contains Ascorbic Acid as well which I did hesitate to try on at first, but during my first try I did not experience any irritation at all, I did feel a slight tingling feeling for a few seconds at first, but that quickly faded away.
The results using this serum, for now, are not really obvious, I still have my acne scars, however, I do feel that my skin does not look so dull compared to before. Sometimes products just need a much longer time to see results. I'll update this post again after I emptied the bottle.
Overall Thoughts
Aprilskin Vitamin ACE Brightening Serum is a great Vitamin C serum if you're looking to solve dull skin, or even fade acne scars. I wouldn't really recommend this serum for those new to Vit C or those with really high skin sensitivity. This serum contains quite a number of ingredients that are easily irritating. Overall, I can say, this serum does seem to show promising results, just probably it may need a bit more time to see obvious results.
